Congratulations to Greg Walker and Robert Martin with Walker & Martin Ranch Sales for their sale of 9,481-acre Canyon Colorado Ranch in Mora County, New Mexico. The December 7 sale was both the week’s largest and most expensive land sale based on data available through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program.
Located above the Canadian River Gorge amidst the high-desert canyons and mesas of eastern New Mexico, this unique ranch adjoins the National Grasslands across the river from Mills Canyon Recreation Area. Home to game including elk, deer and antelope, the cattle and hunting ranch comprises 8,880 deeded acres and 601 State lease acres.
An area of notable scenic beauty, Mora County is characterized by eastern prairies that give rise to the peaks and alpine lakes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the west. Outdoor wilderness adventures here beckon hunters, anglers and backpackers, while history buffs will enjoy the 19th-century remnants of Fort Union National Monument and Native American history that traces back to well before modern-day settlement of the American Southwest.
