Congratulations to Pete Hall with Montgomery, Alabama-based John Hall & Company for his sale this week of 2,534-acre Hopson Farm, a multi-faceted estate to the east of Montgomery offering a diverse mix of pasture, timber and recreational acreage.
Listed as sold on October 29, 2018, through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program, the Elmore CoOunty farm, featuring a century-old farmhouse, sold for $5.1million, or approximately $2,000/acre.
The eastern edge of the property is framed by the looping Tallapoosa River, which flows down from the southern end of the Appalachian Mountains in Georgia and through Alabama on its way to join the Alabama River. There are four miles of river frontage, offering excellent potential for riverfront development. Other suggested future uses include as a conservation easement.
An area of meandering rivers like the Tallapoosa and Coosa, as well as large recreational reservoirs including Jordan Lake and Lake Martin, Elmore County offers a mix of small farms and bedroom communities serving the Montgomery metropolitan region.
