Congratulations to Texas Ranch Sales, LLC, for their sale of 2,245-acre Rocking S Ranch in Schleicher County, Texas. Listed as sold on October 19, 2018, through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program, the low-fenced cattle and recreational ranch just outside of Eldorado sold for $3.7 million, or approximately $1,650/acre.
Rocking S Ranch is ideally situated to continue as a cattle, goat and livestock operation, as well as an outstanding hunting ranch. The varied terrain of the north pastures, with a series of rocky hillsides and draws, to the south pastures of deep fertile soils lends itself to varied agricultural and recreational opportunities. Hunting opportunities on the ranch include whitetail deer, axis, turkey, quail and dove, along with feral hogs.
Sitting on the western edge of the Edwards Plateau, Schleicher County is one of 25 counties that form the state’s distinctive Hill Country region. Large recreational as well as cattle ranches are a predominant feature of the landscape, as are bluebonnet-filled pastures each spring and swimming holes dotted throughout the region’s karst-limestone bedrock that fill with summer bathers and tubers.
