Fillmore County offers a mix of small country towns and wide-open fields of corn, hay and other agricultural staples. The county seat of Geneva features a number of notable 19th-century homes and buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Along with two public fishing spots at the Bruning Dam recreation areaand Lone Star Lake, Fillmore County features five wildlife management areas that allows for the hunting of dove, pheasant, rabbit and waterfowl. Morphy Lagoon Waterfowl Production Area is a popular locla birding spot covering 80 wetland acres and nine upland acres. Land for sale in Nebraska's Fillmore County recently totaled $6 million and approximately 1,000 acres. Fillmore County ranks 48th in the Beef State for the combined amount of land currently advertised for sale. Of all locations in Fillmore County with farms, ranches, and rural real estate for sale, Geneva had the most land for sale. Agriculture and farming drives the Fillmore County economy, with 472 farms recorded in the county during the U.S. Census in 2012. Farming activities in Fillmore County generate annual revenues of $11 million, most of which is from crops. Fillmore County is the 45th biggest county (576 square miles) in Nebraska.
