Fillmore County offers a mix of small country towns and wide-open fields of corn, hay and other agricultural staples. The county seat of Geneva features a number of notable 19th-century homes and buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Along with two public fishing spots at the Bruning Dam recreation areaand Lone Star Lake, Fillmore County features five wildlife management areas that allows for the hunting of dove, pheasant, rabbit and waterfowl. Morphy Lagoon Waterfowl Production Area is a popular locla birding spot covering 80 wetland acres and nine upland acres. A total of nearly 1,000 acres were listed for sale in Fillmore County recently; the value of all Fillmore County farms, ranches, and rural real estate for sale was around $6 million. Fillmore County ranks 53rd in the state for the total acreage of land currently advertised for sale. Of all ranches, farms, hunting land and other rural land and acreage for sale in Fillmore County, Geneva had the most land for sale. Fillmore County has a large agricultural economy, with 472 farms recorded in the county during the latest U.S. Census. Farming activities in Fillmore County generate annual revenues of $11 million, most of which is from crops. Fillmore County is the 45th largest county (576 square miles) in Nebraska. It's located in the Southeast Nebraska region of the state.
