It currently has 45 fish species in it, but the main target species are Walleye, Small Mouth Bass, Crappie, Northern Pike, Chinook Salmon, Lake Trout, Yellow Perch, Paddlefish, and Channel Catfish to name a few.

The lake lies in the eastern prairie region of Montana approximately 140 miles east of Great Falls and 120 miles north of Billings, reaching into portions of six counties. It has 1,520 miles of shoreline.
