Whisper Ridge

WHISPER RIDGE

If you need an excuse to buy land in Colorado, then I?m going to give you one.  Stop dawdling and start owning the land of your dreams. WHISPER RIDGE is in a class of mountain acreage most folks fantasize about. This 110 acre property is adorned with Ponderosa, Fir, Spruce, Aspen, wild-flower filled meadows and dark timber. Electricity crosses the property and the acreage?s eastern boundary borders 640 acres of State Land and in the south borders BLM. The access to WHISPER RIDGE is excellent from a well-maintained county road and is only 2 miles from State Highway 96.

WHISPER RIDGE is in a land trust with 17 additional land owners totaling 2,501 +/- acres. Elk, deer and bear crisscross the land, hawks and eagles soar in the blue sky above and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains loom in the west. A select 1-acre build-site has been designated on this 110 acre user-friendly land that has large meadows and rolling hills, leading to densely timbered forests where large game remain hidden and certainly protected for future generations.

A good driveway leads you into the acreage where you would continue a driveway to the designated, hidden build-site; and if you?re into wildlife viewing, the aspen strewn meadows are filled with native grasses thick and rich where ranch horses and wildlife graze side by side. There?s loads of land around WHISPER RIDGE to horseback ride, or if you?re competitive and travel, a short trailer pull on the county road gets you onto a major highway for easy travel to other areas. Too beautiful for words, the pictures are good but can?t compare to the real thing, so come on out and let?s walk this land. A copy of the land trust is available upon request.

Westcliffe and Silver Cliff are located in the Wet Mountain Valley, Custer County, at approximately 8000 feet. The two towns are bordered on the west by the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains that ascend to 14,000 feet on some peaks, and the rolling Wet Mountains to the east. The Collegiate Peaks can be seen in the north along with Pikes Peak, and the Spanish Peaks can be seen to the south. The Wet Mountain Valley is famous for its unparalleled views, rural-ranching lifestyle, and endless miles of wilderness hiking trails through high-mountain meadows bursting with wildflowers and over 40 high-mountain lakes for fly-fishing.

The Ute Indians were attracted to the Wet Mountain Valley by the plentiful water and abundant game. In the mid 1500?s Spanish explorers entered the western edge of Custer County in search of gold, silver and the fountain of youth. Over three hundred years later Europeans finally found the precious metals they sought, however, we are still looking for the fountain of youth.

Located approximately 75 miles from Colorado Springs and only minutes from the quaint town of Westcliffe, you'll enjoy wildlife-viewing or big game hunting in this undiscovered mountain valley, boating or fishing at Lake DeWeese or first-class fly-fishing and rafting in the Arkansas River, just 30 minutes away. Skiing at Monarch Ski Area is only 90 minutes away. For hikers or backpackers, the Rainbow Trail (which runs from Salida to Westcliffe for 100 miles along the eastern edge of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains), can be accessed just west of town.

Westcliffe is an easy 3-hour drive from Denver, 1.5 hour drive from Colorado Springs, and 45 minutes from Canon City and Pueblo.
