We would like to introduce you to a standout Texas ranch. This one has been a landmark on one of Texas' major rivers, the Colorado, since the 1850's. Pioneers from the early days of the state used the natural ford in the river here to travel across the river. It can still be used as a crossing today. From the crossing, this ranch stretches over 4.5 miles along the river.

The river crossing was also undoubtedly used by native Americans as well. There is ample evidence of their activities on the ranch, including an area where a number of artifacts have been found.

The scenery is remarkable and varied. There are high rocky bluffs, with gorgeous unspoiled views. Miles of hills and trees before you, with the river far below. The meadows are lush and fertile and surrounded by trees. There are a couple of places where you can drive right to the water's edge on the river. The river itself is very attractive, lined with trees and scenic banks rising in places over 150 feet.

Water is not limited to the river. In fact, water is abundant here. There are 12 stock tanks or ponds scattered over the ranch. Several are stocked with fish, including one that has Florida bass. There are 2 old water wells that are not presently in use. The house is supplied with a water line from a rural water system.

And there are a great variety of trees; native pecan, live oak, post oak, elm, persimmon and more. Excellent native species to provide quality browse and nutrition for the wildlife. One thing it does not have a lot of is cedar. In fact, there are so few they can be counted.

Wildlife abound all over the area. Turkey, waterfowl and dove attract wingshooters, and deer are plentiful. Various fur bearing species and other wildlife call it home as well.
