This property consists of 157.27 acres and is located about 8 miles south of John Day, Or. It has numerous springs on the land and also has Mud Lake on it. There are pines, fir, aspen and juniper covering most of the property. Elk, deer, and turkeys inhabit it at one time or other. Deer mainly stay on it but the elk move through at random. In the past we have been able to receive LOPs for this type of land because the highway goes through at the very bottom of the parcel. This would be about 2.5 acres and would qualify for LOPs. We believe this can be done and would pursue this. The USFS is directly to the west and south. It runs for 23 miles to the west and 7 miles to the south. The owners hunt out of this piece on the Forest Service because it is very private and because of the lack of roads going into the proximity of the acreage. The owner says they have hunted very nice bucks and bulls on the property and the USFS that immediately adjoins it.
The views of the Strawberrys, the lake, and the aspens are very enjoyable. There are building sites in numerous areas. This is zoned 5 acre minimum so you can sell off acreages if that is your desire. Being so close to John Day with excellent access makes this pretty desirable for a home site or for selling off acreages. As you can see by the pictures the property is gorgeous, secluded but has ease of access to the city of John Day with its shopping, new hospital, and very friendly home town atmosphere.
