DARRELL SPRINGS RANCH – Lusk, Niobrara County, Wyoming: Located approximately 16.5 miles north of Lusk, Wyoming, the Darrell Springs Ranch consists of 1,800+/- deeded acres. The topography of the ranch is gently rolling grass-covered prairie. The hardy native grasses found throughout the ranch provide ample grazing for livestock and is high in protein making for excellent gains on cattle. The draws and cottonwood tree-lined banks of Old Woman Creek provide natural protection for livestock. The ranch is currently used for summer grazing although it has historically been used as a year-round cattle operation. The carrying capacity is owner-rated at 75 cow/calf pairs year-round or 150 cow/calf pairs with bulls for 4-1/2 to five months during the summer months. A horizontal well with a submersible pump supplies water for livestock via three miles of underground pipelines to four stock tanks throughout the ranch on normal precipitation years. There is a 20,000 gallon water storage tank also on this system. Additional stock water is provided by approximately 1-1/2 miles of Old Woman Creek, a seasonal creek that flows through the ranch, along with several seasonal springs. One of these springs has been developed on the north side and is a gravitation flow system to a stock tank. Although there are no improvements on the Darrell Springs Ranch, several home sites could be established throughout the ranch.
