Thornton, ARCalhoun County

The tract is accessed from the east by about 1/8 mile of woods road off Edge Street in Thornton. The woods road is flagged with pink Kingwood flagging and a Kingwood sign marks the approximate location of the southeast corner. The approximate location of each corner is flagged heavily with pink flagging.

The entire tract consists of a heavily stocked pine plantation which is estimated at 16 years, based on tree core samples. The stand is ready for a first thinning operation offering immediate timber harvest revenue potential. The pine stand is estimated to have 120-140 square feet of basal area and average height of about 45 feet.

The topography is relatively flat with Pheba silt loam and Savannah fine sandy loam soils and an average site index for loblolly pine of 75 feet (Base Age 50), per the NCSS Web Soil Survey, but tree heights suggest a higher actual site index.
