EASTERN VIEW, ca. 1856, occupies an elevated setting in the Green Springs National Historic Landmark District minutes east of Charlottesville and UVA. The apogee of classic Greek Revival, EASTERN VIEWs weatherboard siding capped with a metal hip roof has undergone extensive renovation under the guidance of the National Park Service. The three bay faade introduces a T plan with one of the most elegant entry halls to be found in Historic Green Springs. Tall ceilings, beautiful heart pine floors, and six fireplaces (with chimneys clustered near the core of the structure) are some of the elements complemented by, among others, the modern conveniences of radiant under-floor heating and beautiful new kitchen.

The earliest Virginia settlers remarked upon the fertility of the Green Springs area and EASTERN VIEW is no exception today. With nearly 150 acres in pasture and high-yielding hay ground, the farm is a paradigm of productivity. There are springs, streams and a beautiful private lake. The farm is improved with a 12 stall center-aisle stable with equipment storage and a grooms apartment. Here, too, is a 72X176 covered riding arena with Euro-felt all-weather footing. EASTERN VIEW is a model for the 21st century in a rainwater collection and purification system for the stable and arena.
