What could be nicer than a cattle and hunting ranch in the beautiful Cherokee area? This part of our county is well known for its’ beautiful oak trees, scenic hilltop views, and abundant underground water. This ranch boasts a flowing spring, seeps from rocky ledges, a wet weather creek that has water in it since the recent rains, and lots of wildlife including wild feral hogs. These may be hunted all year. This ranch is located in an excellent hunting area. Our county has a 2-buck, 3-doe limit. It has frontage on FM 501 and along the unpaved County Road 435 with County Road 437 intersecting the ranch providing easy access from several directions. CR 435 divides the ranch with approximately 75 acres of open meadow and wooded area including a water well that is capped on the west side, and the remainder of the ranch on the east side. An old windmill and well are located on the eastern portion. Condition of the well is unknown. It is apparent the old windmill needs repairs. Many years ago a rock wall was built around the spring allowing water to flow down to the livestock-watering trough. Scenic views from the wildflower covered hilltops and meadow areas offer breathtaking enjoyment and peace of mind. Two neighboring ranches that border the ranch have high fenced areas, but the majority is very good low fencing allowing for free range of wildlife. There is a small barn with working pens and several outbuildings. An old-fashioned dipping vat and lichen-covered rock wall add character to the work area.
