The Camp Nelson Lodge is an original classic built around the same era as the Ahwanee Hotel in Yosemite, CA. Historically, the property has been used as the social hub for this community, hosting events, dances, and guests to the full-service mountain resort for many years. For the last decade, the current owners have used it as their own personal family vacation retreat.

The property offers endless recreational activities. Just up the road is the Giant Sequoia National Monument, the Golden Trout Wilderness area, the headwaters of the Kern River, as well as quiet and accessible Giant Sequoia Redwood groves. Main Lodge

The main lodge houses the 50s style diner, and the main lounge room, which has two (2) opposing fireplaces, along with a bandstand, dance area, and quiet places for conversation. The commercial kitchen supports both the 50s diner and the main dining room. The luxurious master suite has large windows that look out to Slate Mountain and the lawn area below that is visited most evenings by five (5) to 20 deer.

Secondary Building

The two-story secondary building has ten (10) guest suites, all with attached baths and inviting verandas on both stories. Guests will sleep comfortably in fully furnished rooms that are each decorated in individual mountain and western themes. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and woods await guests, just outside their rooms.

Climate

During the winter months, Slate Mountain is covered with a pristine snow scene providing majestic views from the Main Lodge. The property does receive intermittent snowfall that usually only lasts for a day or two (2).
