The Goodwin CRP farm in central western Bailey County consists of 300 acres more or less of excellent grass. Mule deer, antelope, prairie chicken and other wildlife have been seen on the property. Texas Tech University has trapped prairie chicken on the property, placed transmitters on them and released them back. 267.2 acres are enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program at a rate of $38.16 per acre through September 30, 2021. The balance of the acreage is in grass. Soils are 88% Amarillo Fine Sandy Loam B with four playa lakes having Randall clay bottoms. County Roads bound the property on three sides with FM 746 running east/west one mile north of the property providing good access to the property. Electric transmission power lines are located mile south of the property and the area has wind turbines so there is always potential for renewable energy along with the wildlife, CRP, grazing or farming opportunities.
