Hudson-Bell Ranch

Terrain: The terrain of the Hudson-Bell Ranch is primarily rugged Caprock Breaks and Palo Duro Canyon type country. The ranch is drained by two prominent canyons. Lost Mule Creek bisects the center of the ranch, draining in a south to north direction.

Pole Canyon traverses the southwest part of the ranch and intersects Lost Mule Creek in the south-central part of the ranch.

This rugged ranch has elevations that range from 2,070' MSL to 2,450' MSL. Dramatic drop-offs of 200 feet are found along the main canyon.

Cedar is the principal cover throughout the ranch. Mesquite is found on the upland flats. Native grasses and other vegetation include grama, buffalograss, bluestem, prickly pear, lotebush, ephedra, etc.

The ranch is fenced in one pasture. Exterior fences are in fair to average condition. The ranch includes two sets of pens, one located at the well in the bottom of the canyon and one located on the upland country along the south boundary.

Water: The ranch is watered by one well in the canyon bottom. This well was operable according to the previous tenant. A solar pump will need to be installed. There are several earthen tanks scattered throughout the ranch. Lost Mule Creek typically has holes of water with adequate rainfall.

Hunting/Recreation: This ranch has good recreational appeal with a habitat for mule deer and occasionally aoudad sheep.

Minerals/Wind Rights: All minerals and wind rights have been severed. None available with purchase.

This scenic ranch is located approximately 5 linear miles north of Turkey, Texas. The ranch is situated on the west side of U.S. Hwy. 70 in Hall and Briscoe Counties. The ranch adjoins the northeast part of Caprock Canyons State Park.
