This farm has approximately 580 acres irrigated a newly installed drip system. Drip irrigation is reportedly 25 to 40% more efficient than sprinkler irrigation but is costly to install with typical costs being $1,400 to $2,000 per acre. The drip system has wireless controls and all wells are electric which results in less labor required for irrigation. In addition, all fertilizer and micro nutrients are distributed thru the drip lines. This farm lays perfectly for drip installation which operates best with some slope.

There are 12 irrigation wells equipped with either submersible electric motors and pumps or turbine pumps with vertical hollow-shaft electric motors that produce a total of approximately 1200 gpm. High-pressure (50#) plastic, under-ground lines connect all wells.

Wells range in depth from 390 to 410 with steel casing and pumps set near the bottom of the hole. The owner states that current saturated thickness is in a range from 120 to 140. Three nearby water-district observation wells (numbers 4877, 6119 & 10713) showed 2019 saturated thicknesses of 101.13, 131.80 and 98.68 with declines in saturated thicknesses from 2009 to 2019 of 9.06, 6.28 and 7.35. The water-bearing formation in this area does not release water as fast as some areas with higher producing wells but does experience lesser decline than the higher producing areas.

This is a very fertile, highly productive farm with predominately Pullman and Olton clay loam soil types. A soil map and well logs are available upon request.

This is an excellent farm with a well-designed, high-quality irrigation infrastructure and is located in close proximity to several dairies and feedyards. The owner is willing to lease and continue operating this farm.
