Historic Gibbins Lake Ranch. Ranch has a prosperous history of cattle & is equipped to handle well over 400 head of cattle. Cattle & horses cohabitate & graze the lush pastures with indigenous wildlife in numbers unseen in more developed areas of North America. Deer, antelope, turkey, geese, ducks, quail & doves populate the area provided for by rich alluvial plains, abundant surface water & luxuriant cover. There are over 7+/- miles of Pecos River access & over 4 miles of direct water access to the lake from the ranch. Settled by a German immigrant in approximately 1870, the Ranch was visited from time to time by the famous outlaw William Bonney (a.k.a. Billy the Kid) & is said to have been a safe hide out for his gang in return for leaving the ranch & its folk unharmed.
