Griffin Lake is playa lake basin in northern Haskell County, just a half mile south of the Knox County border. It is accessed by CR 276, only 3/4 mile from the paved State Highway 277. The property is about halfway between the towns of Munday and Weinert.

The lake's level will vary with rainfall, from filling all 80 surface acres and backing up water across the county road, to a dry, clay bed in the droughts. The lake is fed by a natural draw coming through the fields to the north, as well as county road drainages coming from the east and west. Overall, the whole 80 acre lake basin is considered a "wetland", with tall grasses, cattails, salt cedars, and willows.

Coupled with the region's farm crops (winter wheat, peanuts, cotton), the playa lakes draw in enormous numbers of waterfowl to this area in the winter. Canadian geese can be found by the thousands. Several species of duck, including pintail, mallard, and teal, are common to Griffin Lake as well. The native vegetation provides abundant places to set up blinds, and with 1.25 miles of shoreline, the lake can hold lots of hunters.

In the offseason, there is hunting for feral hog down in the basin. There are enough dry areas around and through the lake that feeders could be set up, but you won't need the place is loaded with them.
