OVERVIEW

The Historic Dunlap Farm located on Indian Creek, a landmark of Monroe County and of the historic Red Sulphur Springs Valley is still standing. This incredible antebellum brick home is the original Dunlap farm on the waters of beautiful Indian Creek. This truly is an old southern type of family home. The property offers diversity for many uses, farming, hunting, or living off the grid. The property includes the old Dunlap cemetery that was started in the early 1800s. Red Sulphur Springs was one of the early springs of Virginia prior to the civil war and continued in operation until the early 1900s. The last owner of the mineral spring itself was former United States vice president Levi Morton. The Red Sulphur Springs Valley is one of the most picturesque in all of West Virginia.

THE ANTEBELLUM HOME

The Dunlap Manse is believed to have been constructed circa. 1830-1840 by Alexander Dunlap. According to research in the records of the Monroe County Courthouse, James A. Dunlap acquired various tracts on Indian Creek in 1838, (140 acres, 285 acres, 250 acres) referenced in deed book L at page 690. It seems that the farm came out of Alexander Dunlap's holdings.
