AREA HISTORY

Pence Springs, once a resort built in 1918, still exists and is now the home of the Sunday summer market event known as the Pence Springs Flea Market where you may find any items ranging from vegetables, antiques, poultry, toys, live music, boats, automobiles, fishing supplies, art, an occasional horse, livestock, and birds on various occasions. The Spring House is at the back of the property and the resort tel is now a private school.

The SummerTime on the Greenbrier River camp is located 2 miles from the Market area along Route 12 toward Alderson, WV.

Many people were convinced the spring water had great restorative power and would come to fill jugs with the wonderful Pence Springs water.
