The Dozier WRP Tract is a premium hunting tract in western Russell County, an area long known for outstanding hunting of all kinds. Surrounded by large landowners and loaded with prime habitat for deer and turkey, this is the perfect setup for the serious hunter. This tract has all the key elements for holding wildlife...water, thick cover and food. Hurtsboro Creek, a large sandy bottom creek, flows through the southern portion of the tract and two smaller creeks are in the northern part of the tract. There are two small ponds on the east and west side, ideal watering holes for wildlife or a possible wood duck hole. Thick cover is abundant over the whole tract, offering great bedding habitiat and browze for the wildlife. There are numerous food plots in place and large hardwood flats containing mature mast bearing oaks. The combination of these food sources makes holding deer on the tract a much easier task. Approximately 617 acres are enrolled in the Wetland Reserve Program (Wrp), a conservation easement meant to protect, restore and enhance wetlands on the property. This easement does restrict certain activities such as timber harvest and development but does allow hunting and some other recreational activities. The remaining acreage, about 148 acres of open land, is not in the WRP and would be ideal for hay production, grazing cattle or could also be easily converted into pine production. There are several good home or campsites here and a great spot for a huge dove field. Power and water are available.
